It has become a tradition for Maison Louis Vuitton to present its Cruise collection in some of the world's extraordinary settings. This year , the destination was Japan, where, in the region of Kyoto, the Miho Museum of Asian art sits amid lush greenery and mountain scenery. This almost sacred place was designed by the architecy Ieoh Ming Pei, to whom we owe the Louvre's celebrated pyramid. Th building evokes a Shangri-la, the legendary earthly paradise rumored to be located in a far-flung valley of the Himalayas. The idea of fusion between the urban and organic realms, so significant in Japan, was the starting point for the Cruise 2018 collection, in which Nicola Ghesquiere explored exchanges between the modern world and a noble ancient civilization, between futurism and poetry, between the energy of the city and the delicacy of the natural land scape.
