Karl Lagerfeld will be creamated without memorial. " I Rather die than be buried"

Karl Lagerfeld will be cremated without funeral and his ashes will probably be lost to like his mother his long-standing love. His fashion brand reports it. "His wishes will be respected," a spokesman for the brand 'Karl Lagerfeld' told AFP the day after the legendary designer died at the age of 85. The 'Kaiser', known for his sharp humor, had long insisted that he would rather "die" rather than be buried.

"I asked to be cremated and to disperse my ashes with those of my mother ... and those of Choupette (her cat, ed.), If she dies before me," he had stated in one of the last interviews. Lagerfeld had previously announced that his ashes would be united to those of his long-time partner, French dandy Jacques de Bascher, who died of AIDS in 1989.

The Kaiser of fashion had told De Bascher's biographer, Marie Ottavi, that she had kept part of her lover's ashes so that they could 'get back together' at the end. The creative director of German origin had put them aside "in a secret place: one day they will be added to mine", he had said at Ottavi. The other part of De Bascher's ashes, according to Le Monde, was given to his family
